About Guitar Lessons by Travis
A Lifelong Love of Music, Shared Through Guitar
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started learning piano at a young age, then began learning guitar at 14 through a homeschool co-op. I continued with additional lessons and plenty of self-guided learning.
Over time, I played on a church worship team and performed with other musicians. I was also asked to help lead music and guitar classes and to accompany my brother as he learned drums. Those experiences gave me the chance to share what I had learned and help others grow as musicians.
I’m Travis, and today I offer private guitar lessons for students both in-person in Grand Blanc, MI as well as online.
How I Teach
I believe guitar lessons should help you play music, not just memorize information.
My teaching approach is simple: Play First. Understand Second. Master Over Time. We’ll start with practical skills and songs, then explore the ideas behind what you’re playing as you become more comfortable with the instrument.
Lessons can include chords, rhythm, tabs, songs, and guitar techniques. The focus depends on your experience and goals, whether you’re learning your first chords, returning to guitar, or ready to develop your playing further.
Lessons Built Around Your Goals
Every guitarist has their own reasons for learning. You might want to play favorite songs, strum along to music you love, learn electric guitar, explore lead guitar, or understand how music works.
You don’t need to know exactly where you want your guitar journey to take you. We can start with what interests you and build from there.
